Job Purpose:
To manage and oversee all melting operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality metal melting processes to meet production requirements and metallurgical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and execute daily melting schedules based on production plans.
Supervise melting operations, including charge preparation, furnace operation (Induction/Arc), pouring, and tapping.
Ensure correct chemical composition, temperature control, and metallurgical standards of molten metal.
Coordinate with the quality and metallurgy departments for heat approvals and corrective actions.
Monitor furnace parameters, refractory life, and energy consumption to optimize performance and costs.
Maintain furnace health and coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance with the maintenance team.
Implement safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for all melting personnel.
Manage melting shop manpower, shift schedules, and training programs.
Maintain records of heat data, raw material consumption, and production KPIs.
Drive continuous improvement in melting practices, yield improvement, and process consistency.
Ensure compliance with environmental and statutory regulations.
Qualifications & Experience:
Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy / Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
8–15 years of experience in melting operations, preferably in foundry, steel, or non-ferrous metal industries.
Hands-on experience with induction furnaces, arc furnaces, or cupola furnaces.
Good understanding of metallurgy, chemical composition control, and thermal management.
